What is VT STARS?
The Virginia Tech Summer Training Academy for Rising Students (VT STARS) is a 3-year developmental program for Virginia's at risk youth.

The primary goal of VT STARS is to provide non-formal learning experiences in Information Technology for low income, under-represented or first-generation college-bound at-risk youth.

VT STARS is highlighted by a summer residency held on Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus.

In addition to hands-on activites and experiences using state-of-the-art 21st century information technology, program participants are challenged to enhance their critical thinking, team-building, and decision-making abilities. Participants will also learn other valuable life skills necessary for excellence in high school and future endeavors.
