 Purpose, Educational Objectives, and Instructional Outcomes
Place-based Education Module:
The purpose of the Place-based Education module is to provide VT STARS participants with a. series of critical thinking and cross-cultural multimedia experiences to stimulate reflection and civic involvement. Personal dialogue, written and creative self-expression are encouraged through daily journal entries and


Instructional Objectives:
Illustrate the relevancy of school to real world problems and possible solutions
Demonstrate relationship between academic achievement, personal growth and self-fulfillment
Facilitator a peer-to-peer discussion on perceptions of barriers and obstacles to success
Provide guidelines for individual goal-setting, life-choices and conflict resolution


Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of the Place-based Education and Cross-Cultural Studies module, VT STARS participants will have an increased awareness of the relationship between personal choices, cultural values, goal attainment and community involvement.


Participants will also have an increased understanding of the impact of technology on world civilization.
